Create a Shopify landing page by preparing the campaign offer, adding a page, applying a suitable template and testing its purchase path. A separate builder is useful when the theme cannot support the required layout.
The native workflow below starts with a hidden draft and ends with a checked public destination.
Quick answer
Create a Hidden page, assign a suitable template, check products and purchase behavior, then open the public URL with campaign parameters before launch.
Can a Shopify landing page fit your theme limits?
Use a Shopify page and alternate template when your theme supports the required layout. Check its section controls before designing. Ask the operator to build and revise the page. Compare a builder only if it removes a specific design or maintenance constraint your team faces.
I'm not a developer, so we're somewhat limited with our Shopify theme and what it will allow for design wise.

1 Choose the destination and prepare the offer
Send shoppers to the existing product page when it already explains the offer. Use a collection for a selection, or a separate page for campaign-specific context. Record whether the purchase action links to a product page or uses an embedded form; verify required variant behavior.
Prepare the campaign promise, product link, hero image, supported proof, current price and purchase action. Confirm whether the landing page sells one product, a bundle or a curated collection. The shopper should not have to infer the offer from a generic brand story.
Keep product facts in the product catalog where possible. A copied price in a text block requires its own maintenance. If you use a builder, ask how it handles variants, inventory and selling plans rather than assuming every product block works alike.
2 Create the page and assign its template
Shopify’s current instructions say new pages are Visible by default after saving. Select Hidden while reviewing the draft. Shopify page documentation.
In Shopify admin, open Online Store and Pages, choose Add page, and enter a descriptive title and content. Choose Hidden while the page is being reviewed. Save the page and inspect its preview. These instructions follow Shopify’s current documented desktop route.
In the theme editor, create an alternate page template from a suitable existing template. Add and reorder the sections your theme supports. Save the template. Return to the page in the admin and select that template in the Theme template field. A new template must be available in the current live theme to appear for assignment. Template assignment documentation.
Shopify’s editor supports links, tables, images, videos and HTML editing. Preview how your theme renders them. Use current product images and descriptive image text. Check the page title and search listing, then review pasted tables on mobile.
3 Test and publish the exact campaign URL
Open the preview on a phone-sized screen. Check the actual product title, price, variant labels, availability and call to action. Follow the destination into the cart and checkout flow your store permits. This guide does not recommend placing a paid order merely to verify the page.
Verify the campaign URL and preserve the parameters your analytics use. Compare page analytics with your store’s measurement setup. A landing-page visit and a purchased order are different events; do not call every visit a conversion.
Keep drafts Hidden for review; visibility controls do not protect sensitive information. At launch, open the public URL in a fresh browser with the exact campaign parameters. If the URL changes, update the ad or redirect and check tracking.
If a template is missing, confirm it exists in the current live theme. If another campaign changes unexpectedly, check shared template assignments. If shoppers cannot select a variant, inspect the product form. For missing purchase attribution, ask the analytics owner to verify identifiers and event definitions.
The publishing boundaries buyers wanted checked
The selected operators raised theme limitations, access to the previous experience and active page-rebuild work. Include those boundaries in the launch plan.
| Observed requirement | Minimum observed calls | Evaluation check |
|---|---|---|
| Design and development capacity | 2 | Confirm who can implement the layout and maintain the resulting page. |
| Retaining access and ownership of the existing experience | 2 | Agree on preview, rollback, retained assets and ownership before changing the destination. |
| Working with an active page-rebuild program | 2 | Record the page being changed and the existing product or campaign destinations it must work with. |
Hand the page over with a maintenance owner
Record the public URL, template, product source, offer owner, launch date and campaign parameters. Include the analytics reviewer. Update or redirect expired destinations before changing active ads, then check product links and mobile layout again.
Use Shopify template blueprints for layout decisions or builder comparisons for missing controls. Define experiments with the A/B testing guide. For standalone campaign tools, compare Instapage alternatives; discuss ad-to-store matching through Kinect’s dynamic pages and a demo.

Where do I create a landing page in Shopify?
Open Online Store and Pages, add the page, then assign a suitable theme template. Use Hidden while reviewing; new pages are Visible by default after saving.

Check whether it exists in the current live theme. Shopify’s assignment choices depend on templates available there.

Use the existing product page if it already explains the offer. Create a separate destination when the campaign needs a different layout or additional context.
What should I check before sending traffic?
